Black Glutinous Rice Dessert

This is our all time farvourite. Only three ingredients used, black glutinous rice, water and sugar. When served, it is splashed with fresh coconut milk.

Ingredients:
200 gram black glutinous rice
5 pandan leaves washed and tied into a knot
75 gram granulated palm sugar (gula melaka)
10 gram caster sugar
1 small pack coconut cream
Water

Method:

  1. Wash and rinse black glutinous rice thoroughly. Remove any glutinous rice that floats up and sock for 1 hour.
  2. Fill half the pot with water, add pandan leaves and black glutinous rice to boil.
  3. Turn the heat down to medium low and keep stirring every 10 minutes to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  4. Cook until the black glutinous rice is soft and mushy. Take about 1 hours.
  5. Add gula melaka and stir until it is completely dissolved.
  6. Add caster sugar to taste
  7. Serve while it’s still hot in a bowl and top with a few spoonfuls of coconut cream.
